Chapter 3: Reaching a Partnership
Ella managed to persuade her parents, even though they remained skeptical. However, they couldn't resist her determination and decided to compromise, offering unconditional support in resolving the matter of her and Lucien's regrettable marriage.
Ella returned to her room and lay down on her large, long-lost bed. She had never missed this bed so much, nor had she ever imagined that a simple change of bed would lead to such tragedy. Her eyes twitched slightly as she pulled out the VIP credit card and held it in her hand.
Eden…
Who the hell was this guy?
In her previous life, Ella had been helping Lucien break free from the constraints of his wealthy family. However, the biggest obstacle on their path was Eden, who everyone underestimated and yet proved to be stubborn and hard to control.
On the night before her wedding, she received a sudden call from him, and now she couldn't determine whether it was merely a prank or something else entirely.
In order to completely dismantle the Williams Family, Ella knew she needed assistance.
After careful consideration, she took out her cell phone and dialed Seattle's largest luxury mall.
"Hello, Ms. Ford," someone greeted her respectfully.
"Can I make a purchase by giving you my card details over the phone?"
"Is the credit card with one of our partnered companies?" They inquired.
"I don't know."
"Please read the number to me, and I can check for you."
Ella read off the card as it was written.
After checking, the other side seemed impressed. "Ms. Ford, you're the owner of our VIP card. You can use it in our mall without any limit. Whatever you'd like, we can show you the product over video call and deliver it directly to your residence."
As Ella looked at the card in her hand, she wondered if the privileges were truly that extraordinary. She had heard that many wealthy individuals liked to flaunt their status with such prestigious-looking super cards. However, she hadn't realized that this card came with an unlimited spending limit, especially for a luxury shopping mall where one could spend their family into bankruptcy!
Ella didn't hesitate. "A video call isn't necessary. Just follow the list I give you and deliver it to my house. My address is in the South Ridge neighborhood…"
After the lengthy explanation, Ella hung up the phone and decided to go to bed. She felt the need to rest and adjust her emotions. After all, experiencing such a miraculous rebirth, she needed time to come to terms with it and accept her new reality.
—
Kingtin Mountain was a remote location, far away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Originally, it served as a sacred Buddhist site. However, on another part of the mountain, there existed a privately developed super clubhouse. This exclusive establishment was incredibly luxurious, had strict membership rules, and was not a place you could enter simply because you had money.
Eden was a regular visitor at this place. He sat in a private room on the edge of the cliff, enjoying the breathtaking view of green mountains and blue water through a floor-to-ceiling window. Idly, he smoked a cigarette. Behind him, some friends were playing pool, while a group of women served him, engaging in various obscene and unpleasant activities.
"Eden, your cell phone keeps ringing." Jonas Davis nudged his side.
Eden turned his head to look.
"Which woman did you decide to spoil this time?" Jonas glanced curiously at the purchase notifications appearing on Eden's screen.
God, was this girl trying to bleed him dry?
Eden picked up his phone and flipped through it casually.
The spending reminders continued to come in one at a time.
"You're too generous with the women you're seeing." Jonas grimaced at the rapid notification tones. "Did you even get to–"
"You can't be too generous to your future wife," Eden suddenly said.
Jonas froze. "What did you say?"
"I said, I'm getting married," Eden said as he extinguished his cigarette butt with a casual gesture, flashing a smile that was devilishly handsome.
Jonas was distracted for a moment by Eden's smile, then he finally reacted, "What the fuck?!"
Eden picked up his suit jacket and said, "Get the money ready."
Then, he walked away, stepping out the door like nothing had just happened.
"Mr. Dillon..." A petite woman stepped in front of him.
Eden scowled. "Get out of my way."
The woman flinched and stepped aside.
Didn't everyone say Eden Dillon was relaxed and easygoing?
She looked at Eden with wide eyes and hurried away, chased off by Eden's cold stare.
She had a feeling he might snap and kill her any second.
Maybe those rumors were wrong after all…
Today was her first time following these gentlemen to the party, hoping to use the opportunity to get closer to Mr. Dillon. However, she soon realized that it wouldn't be so easy to get involved with a man who looked so handsome and came from a wealthy family.
—
Ella was woken up by her phone ringing, and with her still drowsy breath, she recognized the familiar phone number as Eden's. Despite not having saved it in her contacts due, she remembered it exactly. She suppressed her temper and answered, "Hello."
"If I remember correctly, I gave you my card to cover medical bills." Eden sounded irritated, but his voice was still so exquisite.
It took Ella a moment to recall that she had recently taken a large sum of money from this older man, with the intention of getting him to notice her. She chuckled softly and replied, "Oh, I remember. I accepted the card as my wedding gift."
"I see… So that's why you thought you could spend thirty million dollars in the span of minutes."
Did she really spend that much? She wasn't really thinking about it.
She replied, "It didn't go to waste, if that's what you're wondering."
"What do you mean?"
"You help me bring down the Williams Family, and I'll remove the obstacles keeping you from becoming the head of yours." Her voice was measured.
There was a noticeable silence on the other side for a few seconds.
Eden blushed slightly, starting to grow anxious.
What was he thinking? Was he going to turn her down? What would she do if he did?
Still, Ella was able to read him like an open book. She added, "I know you better than you think."
"You're not trying to blackmail me?" Eden sneered in response.
"No. You should be glad I chose to ask you for help instead of Lucien."
If she learned anything from her past life, it was that Eden and Lucien were at each other's throats at every turn. Even though Eden was fully never beaten, Lucien was still a powerful rival.
The two were mortal enemies.
She never found out which one of them finally claimed victory before she died.
Maybe it was Lucien. He had shown himself to be heartless, using the wealth of the Ford Group to secure a place in the family line after her death. Ella had to exercise great self-control to bear the cruel pain she had endured, at least for the time being.
"Aren't you in love with him, Ms. Ford? He's the heir to his family's fortune, and you want to side with me? I'm flattered." His words dripped with sarcasm – he didn't believe a word she said.
"Show up to my wedding, and I'll show you my sincerity," Ella replied, fully aware her actions had to speak for her now. That's what it meant to be an adult.
"Fine," Eden agreed flatly.
Maybe he trusted her insight. Maybe there was another reason he'd benefit from working with her. Either way, his agreement was so quick that Ella was taken aback.
Ella was not the type of woman to display her emotions openly. Whether she was extremely happy or extremely sad, she maintained her composure with dignity and poise. Even when she was tormented by Lucien, she refused to submit, viewing it as both self-preservation and a reflection of her good upbringing.
"It's a deal then," she smiled.
